(my tr) Statement of CHRI parliament in regards to "the round table" A "round table" on the problem of Russian-Chechen war is being planned at beginning of March of this year in Moscow. At the last session of PACE in Strasbourg, the members of CHRI parliament during their work in the committees and with the deputies of subcommittees on "the round table" expressed their opinion on this issue. The deputies noted that this " the round table" has a fromat, where the opposing sides are not represented, but there' s only one side; - Russia and her representatives, the puppet authority of Chechnya, this doesn't contribute to any solution of this crisis, but on the contrary, it delays the solution of this problem for an indeterminate period. Such pseudo-political measures are conducted in the Chechen republic not for the first time, for example, we had the "referendum", the "elections" of the Presidents in the zone of military actions and so forth, but the result of similar hypocritical actions - is the war, which drags on now for its sixth year. Members of parliament are ready to welcome any actions directed toward the search on how to get out from this crisis and from their side to apply the maximum efforts to help to begin the process on a peaceful settlement. But for this the participation of both sides of this conflic is needed, which means - the representatives of the Russian Federation and the legitimate President of CHRI, Aslan Maskhadov. The Parliament of CHRI considers that this measure originally bears a formal character and its purpose is not the curtailment of Russian- Chechen war. The one-sided attempts to solve the Russian- Chechen crisis cannot give the desired result. Chairman of Parliament of CHRI Zh.
