Statement on the reports of suicide bombings in Moscow
The government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria has no relation to the reported
bombings in Moscow today. We repeat that the government of the Chechen Republic
of Ichkeria categorically and unconditionally rejects suicide attacks and condemns
all acts of terrorism, regardless of who may perpetrate them.
We note however that the roots of the suicide attacks lie in the Kremlin’s
genocidal policies in Chechnya and in the international community’s unwillingness
to challenge them.
Only a genuine peace can break this circle of violence and provide security
to both the Chechen and Russian peoples. We therefore once again offer Moscow
to start transparent peace talks with the legitimate Chechen government of the
democratically elected President Aslan Maskhadov and ask the international community
to convince Moscow to take the offer.

Comment: Sometimes the solution to terrible problems is terribly simple. That is to say simply the nude and crude truth. Europe do not limit yourself to the condemnation of Chechen terrorism. Don't be afraid to say also clearly and loudly that there is a genocide going and who is the true responsible for this. Accept to set aside your selfish shortsighted interests and have the courage to put pressure on Putin to stop his detah squads and to convince him for a real political solution (and which is not the farce of the so called "referendum" or the so called "presidential election"). There is no other way out. M.M.
