The European Union has added Chechnya's notorious Shamil Basayev and Zelimkhan Yandarbiev to its black list of terrorism-involved persons and organisations. "The decision is within the channel of Russia-EU alliance against international terrorism. It demonstrates attitudes to the threat, shared by Russia and the European Union. The decision shows the vast potential of team efforts in that field, and has come as another practical step to implement Russia-EU summit resolutions of Brussels, 2002, and St. Petersburg, 2003," Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs press and information department says in a public statement. The decision automatically implies Basayev's and Yandarbiev's bank accounts frozen in EU countries, the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out. |
