Palestinian Ambassador confirms Arab countries's common stand on Chechnya

MOSCOW, JANUARY 22.

FROM A RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT

Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Hairi al-Oridi has confirmed that the Arab countries have a common stand on Chechnya. When speaking at a "round  table" in the Izvestia media center on Wednesday, he said that "all  Arab countries proceed from the assumption that the Chechen  problem  is Russia's domestic affair".*
"Arab states support the united, integrated Russia that plays an important part in restoring the stable and secure world," he emphasized.

When speaking on the activities of the four Middle East mediators,  that is, Russia, the USA, the European Union and the UN, the Ambassador pointed out that Palestine highly appreciated their role  and was "ready to do everything to carry out the 'Road Map' worked out by the mediators". "We express our gratitude to Russia for its  foreign policy that helped to work out the 'Road Map'", he said. At the same time he warned that if the Israeli continued building their settlement on Palestinian territories, it would be "difficult to achieve a peaceful solution to the Middle East problem." "In this case the main goal of the Israeli government, ensuring Israel's security, cannot be reached," Hairi al-Oridi said.

Moreover, he spoke for working out a clear definition of "terrorism" by the UN. It should not contradict with the principle of people's struggle against occupation, the Ambassador believes.**

Webauthor's comment:

* Should then everyone "proceed from the assumption that the Palestininan problem is Israel's domestic affair"??

** One can immagine how the middle-eastern Chechens, who have always strongly sympathized with the Palestinian cause and continually provided financial, moral, and physical support (and continue to do so) are delighted about this official Palestinian stance.
