| Chechenpress The terrible pragmatism of the West Aslan Mashadov, the President of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria is killed. He is killed by not simply Russian or pro-Russian KGBists, he is killed by the full consent of the West. The West which, apparently, lives according to the laws of democracy, freedom, "human rights"; which, apparently, struggles for peace. All these words are falseness and lie, at least, when it is a question of Russia and crimes of the Russian authority in the Chechen Republic … It makes the Western leaders accomplices of the murder. It seems that the West is interested only in its benefit. There is nothing terrible for it if the way to benefit goes through corpses - through corpses of the whole people! In reply to appeals to help the Chechen refugees, to stop Russia, to do the utmost, to stop genocide of the people, leaders of the western countries very briskly answer, that "closely watch situation in the Chechen Republic". Possibly, the same as inhabitants watch a flight of interplanetary station. Belgian queen Fabiola has responded with greater sympathy and warm words about Chechens, but in practice Belgium accepts, or as they say, gives "positive" (for applications for a political asylum), only 7 % of the Chechen refugees arriving to this country, looking rescue from the war, tortures and prosecutions. It is quite obvious, that a great quantity of refugees demands an expense of some means: it is necessary to provide them, initially, at least; it is necessary to give them any habitation, though for their own account (!); it is necessary to teach them the language. Europeans do not wish to infringe their economic interests even slightly. Besides, maybe, it is not less important, they do not wish "to quarrel" with monstrously criminal Russia, I mean, naturally, the Russian government. At the height of functioning of the terrible camp of death Chernokozovo in the Chechen Republic (not closed till now), when the proofs about it became known worldwide, in particular of journalist Andrey Babitsky, who was imprisoned there and stayed there for three weeks; about atrocities and tortures the same as fascists' ones in this camp, Lord Judd, the special representative of the European parliamentary commission for supervision over the Russian actions in the Chechen Republic, played a perfomance before the European parliament, saying, that Russia succeeded in overcoming infringements of human rights in the Chechen Republic. However, after he had left this post, he did not conceal at all, that there was genocide in the Chechen Republic. He spoke so, in particular, at the meeting in Washington during the Film festival of the Chechen films in 2003 and repeated it subsequently. Why has his position changed so suddenly? Someone venomously joked at the same meeting: "In order not to get under the “ Nuremberg proceedings". This is how the Russian genocide in the Chechen Republic should end. When at the summit of the "Great Eight" in 2001 Aslan Mashadov's letter about the most terrible situation in the Chechen Republic was presented, whether there was though any slightest reaction from the "Seven"? No. they were afraid to lose the Russian market and Russian oil, and they did not want, as it was already said, to deal with the Russian state criminality. They decided to close this criminality with the Chechen Republic, to pay off! They forgot Hitler's example and Czechoslovakia . And may be, they decided, that it was not suitable time for it, it would manage somehow. But it has not. The last and the only politician of the Chechen Republic, with whom it was possible to negotiate, President Aslan Mashadov, is killed. He was, as Chechens used to say, "a peace person", he was ready for greate concessions to Russia for the sake of peace. But Russia, naturally, does not need peace, and, as Russian legal experts wrote, he was hunted "for kindling of peace". Movladi Udugov has written precisely about it: "With Mashadov's death the last opportunity of the political decision of the Chechen conflict has died too". Has anybody thought, what will be further?! But let the West does not hope that the Russian robbery will be limited with the Chechen Republic: the attempt of intrusion into the Ukrainian business already shows it. The United Nations... This organization, which should represent conscience of mankind and be the judge in the international disputes, is bogged down in corruption: in days of Bosnia it spent 400,000 dollars. The voice of Russia was necessary for Kofi Annan's re-election by the Security Council. This "voice" was necessary also for other "leaders". German chancellor Shroedder caressed Putin, condemned "the Chechen terrorism" and forgot for a minute, that Putin was an agent in East Germany. And an agent from the KGB for ever remains the agent and belongs to the KGB for ever. World leaders have remained deaf and blind to the offer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chechen Republic on conditional independence and temporary international administration in the Chechen Republic. More than 20,000 signatures were collected in Europe under this appeal. The Chairman of the European Radical party Olivier Dupuis starved for almost 40 days for the world to pay attention to genocide in the Chechen Republic. Legal experts of all countries, often risking their lives, appealed to the conscience of the European governors. In vain. They remained and remain in a hypnotic dream. President Bush, meeting Putin in Slovakia several days ago, spoke about some democracy, about nuclear reactors, about Iran, and obviously, though implicitly, about some new repartition of the world. With whom? With Russia! Though it can be a new diplomatic game. Presidents have not said any word about the Chechen Republic, the most painful point of Russia. What Bush meant, speaking about necessary prosecution and destruction of terrorists outside the USA, who knows, maybe, the Russian terrorism. Anyway, as though in reply to this meeting, Russian terrorism has shown it whole beauty: President Mashadov is killed. Tens and hundred thousand of people, not only Chechens, are in deep mourning. Putin was afraid of Mashadov, his peace initiatives. Putin and his clique continue to be afraid of Mashadov, even dead. His body is guarded in deep secret. This is a citation from the letter of close relatives of Mashadov. "In connection with the tragedy the monstrous situation takes place, when the Russian management, trampling all universal norms, acts in relation to the body of President Mashadov killed by them in absolutely a wild way. Under the pretext of that killed legitimate President Maskhadov, ostensibly, was a terrorist, the Russian management does not give out the body to bury, and thus one more pain is added to our loss. It is blasphemous and absolutely inexplicable in conditions of the modern civilized world!" The wife, the daughter and the son of Mashadov have again appealed to the West with this letter, asking leaders of the European countries to put pressure upon Putin. All of them still speak about the civilized world and laws of the civilized world. But it seems that the present law of the civilized world is "the law of jungle", in which there is no either morals, or philanthropy, validity, and there is only the authority of force and aspiration to profit.
