Chechnya
The prime minister has blackened "the name of an entire people" by quoting unconfirmed reports that Chechen fighters were among pockets of resistance in Iraq, Tory Crispin Blunt claimed. He called on Mr Blair to retract his comments until he had firm proof such fighters had been involved in attacks on coalition troops. Mr Blair conceded the reports had not been verified but added that extremist groups from Chechnya had carried out "appalling terrorist atrocities" in Russia.

Comment by Norbert Strade (Yahoo Chechnya-sl moderator): Well, this almost speaks for itself and exposes Tony Blair's methods. First, he quotes "reports", knowing very well that they are nothing but mendacious propaganda, and then, when questioned, he calls them "unconfirmed" (which is an extreme euphemism). And finally he comes up with some totally different propaganda claims in order to justify the previous lies. What a wonderful "statesman". N.S.
