Murders,
kidnappings and bombings of Chechnya

for National Rescue (CCNR) reported that late at night on August 23, 2003 in the village of Podgornoe (Upper Terek District)
Russian invaders with masks on drove into the village on a UAZ jeep
with no license plates and captured and took away two young men. The
victims are: Adlan Elmurzayev and another young man whose last name
is currently being established.
During the day both of them were found dead on the outskirts of the
village of Meken-Yurt. According to the
eyewitnesses, both young men were finished off by firing «control
shots» in the head. It has not been established which of the units
the Russian invaders who committed that murder belonged to. Mr. Elmurzayev’s
relatives say he had nothing to do with the war operations in the Republic.
They do not know what the reason for their murder was.
Early in the morning on August 27, 2003 Russian invaders kidnapped
a local civilian in Zavodskoy District of Jokhar. The name of the kidnapped
victim is currently being established. The victim’s neighbors
claim that Russian invaders took all of his cash – about 60,000
rubles (equal to about $ 3,000 US dollars) and all more or less valuable
items.
During the day on August 27, 2003 residents of Zavodskoy District
blocked the road leading to downtown Jokhar and demanded that the puppet
administration finds the victim and gets him released.
It was also reported that over the
past few days Russian warplanes and artillery have been conducting massive
strikes on the outskirts of the villages in the number of mountain and
foothill regions of Chechnya.
According to the reports received from the locals, outskirts of the
villages, gorges and woodlands in Kurchaloi, Vedeno, Shatoi and Achkhoi-Martan
Districts of Chechnya are coming under artillery
shelling and aerial bombings. Today no information on civilian casualties
has been available so far.
