Ingushetia's President: About 59,000 Chechen refugees stay in Ingushetia

Ingushetia's President Murat Zyazikov met World Food Program officials in Magas on Wednesday to discuss help to forced migrants from Chechnya. Zyazikov said there are about 59,000 forced Chechen migrants in Ingushetia. Of them 11,000 are living in tent cities, and others are staying in the private sector and leased housing. The president thanked the World Food Program for its help to the refugees and confirmed that they "are returning to Chechnya of their own volition." The head of the World Food Program delegation, Bruce Crawshaw, thanked Zyazikov for the smooth operation of Ingush customs, which allows humanitarian aid to reach those who need it promptly and without delays.
