killed since Soviet Union's breakup MOSCOW. Aug 19, 2003 (Interfax) - The Russian Union of Journalists has announced that over 200 Russian journalists have been killed since the former Soviet Union collapsed. "More than 200 journalists have been killed while doing their job. This figure is disputable, because many of those who were killed in their courtyards, on the street, or in parks have not been recognized as killed while on duty," Vsevolod Bogdanov, chairman of the Union of Journalists, told a conference on Tuesday. He was speaking about the journalists guild, which will conduct journalists' investigations. |
