during the hostilities from the fall 1999 to February 2002

85. Saipuddin Kagirov, killed by unidentified people in his house
at about 9:30 p.m. on October 9, 2001.
86. Sultan Kurmakhadov, born in 1949, killed together with three
of his neighbors on October 12, 2001 at about 9 p.m. in the Staropromyslovsky
district of Grozny. Buried in the settlement of Starye Atagi.
87. Movsar Khamzatov, born in 1972, killed at about 9 p.m. on October
23, 2001 when a Russian column open unreasonable fire at his vehicle.
A young boy from the village of Alkhazurovo was killed together
his him, Umar Israilov was wounded.
89. Sultan Turkayev, disappeared in February 2001, his dead body
was discovered while loading gravel in t he river of Argun on November
16, 2001.
90. Adam Sadayev, born in 1982, killed in Grozny on November 19,
2001. He was buried in Starye Atagi.
91. Beslan Elmurzayev, killed on July 27, 2000, when at about 10
p.m. unidentified people opened fire at Gelani Demelkhanov.
92. Manzha Daudova, born in 1932, killed on December 5, 2001, when
at about 7:30 a.m. Russian troops, which entered Starye Atagi on
armored vehicles, opened fire, including at her house, from a large-caliber
machine-gun. She died on the spot from numerous wounds. Her son
was wounded by a bullet which went through the body of his mother.
93. Adam Matsiyev, 75.
94. Ayub Matsiyev, born in 1953.
95. Yusup Matsiyev, born in 1955.
96. Zarema Matsiyeva, 15. All the four of them died during an explosion
in their house on January 1, 2002 at about 11 a.m. Obviously, the
explosion was masterminded by Russian troops who threatened to blow
up their house during a "zachistka" from December 26-30, 2001. Federals
forced them out of the house and spent there several hours.
97. Alkhazur (Lokka) Dagayev, born in 1960, detained by Russian
troops on December 24, 2001. Together with other four Chechens he
was discovered on January 2, 2002 in a dacha settlement near Khankala.
98. Magomed-Emin Mussayev, 24, killed by Russian troops on January
12, 2002 together with other five peaceful residents of the village
of Dai in the Shatoi district. Mussayev managed to get off the car,
his dead body was discovered in a nearb y forest, the corpses of
the rest, including a mother of eight, were poured with gasoline
and burnt. Relatives were forced to admit that Mussayev died in
the forest during a mine explosion.
99. Ruslan Nasukhanov, 33.
100. Movsar Nasukhanov, 22.
101. Movladi Nasukhanov, 20. All of the Nasukhanovs were taken away
from their house in the Nuradilova street on February 13, 2002,
their burnt bodies were thrown out at the settlement of Mesker-Yurt
on February 19, 2002. None of them took part in hostilities during
the first or the second Chechen war.
102. Abu Gekhayev, 24, detained during a "zachistka" in his house.
He was beaten to death. His burnt remains were given out by federals
on February 19, 2002. Abu was identified by pieces of his clothing.
The above list was attached to the appeal of the residents of the
village of Starye Atagi addressed to heads of states and organizations
which were able and are still able to stop the killing of the Chechen
people. No reaction to the appeal followed, while the bloody list
is growing. New names of the murdered Chechens you can find in the
materials of our newspaper. The tragedy of Atagi continues.
