Nine locals detained in sweeps in Staraiya Sunzha
CHECHNYA, September 12, Caucasus Times - Since September 11, Russian
troops conduct passport checks in Staraya Sunzha to hunt down alleged
militants.
The Caucasus Times correspondent reported citing the inhabitants
of the village, the Russian servicemen had detained nine local men
and took them away. The detainees are under 25 year-old age.
The military commandant's office of Groznensky district declined
to comment the details of the sweep. The officers noted the sweep
was intended to hunt down the suspects, active militants.
Since then the village has been blocked by military armored equipment
and manned by troops. No one is allowed out of the village.
