Four civilians kidnapped in Chechnya
GROZNY, July 11, 2003. /From a RIA Novosti correspondent/ -- The Interior Ministry's
press centre in Chechnya told RIA Novosti on Friday that four peaceful citizens
had been kidnapped.
A spokesman said that two men aged 19, as well as a 33-year-old and a 28-year-old
had been seized at 5 a.m. in Chechen Aul settlement.
According to the spokesman, the kidnappers arrived in the village in 2 APCs
and a UAZ vehicle without any distinctive features.
An investigation has been opened.

A group of unidentified armed people kidnapped four residents of the Chechen village of Chechen-Aul late on Thursday, a source at the republican law enforcement bodies told Itar-Tass on Friday. The group has broke into the village by two armored personnel carriers and UAZ jeep. The criminals kidnapped Timur Usmanov, 33; Yunadi Vatsayev, 28; Magomed Abazov, 19 and Ruslan Deniyev, 19. The criminal proceeding was instituted under the article "kidnapping" of the Russian Criminal Code. The investigation is in progress.
