Artillery bombardment of populated areas in southern Chechnya

During the night between 6 and 7 July, the southern part of Shali district and the northern part of Vedeno district came under artillery bombardment. Many inhabitants of the villages of Avtury, Serzhen-Yurt, Benoi, Tsa-Vedeno, Hazhi-Evla, where the shells exploded, spent a night under alarm, staying fully dressed in their cellars. This was reported by inhabitants of the villages to a correspondent of the SRChF, especially by Madina Shamileva, who left for Ingushetia together with her two young children. According to her, they have already become used to systematic shelling, but when the shells are exploding near the house, shaking doors and windows and breaking glass, not only the children but the adults, too, experience heavy stress.
