GROZNY, May 7 (Itar-Tass) -- The head of the Chechen administration Akhmat
Kadyrov is very critical of the current pattern of distribution of humanitarian
aid. In many cases relief supplies from international organizations goes to armed
militants, Kadyrov said after humanitarian aid packages were found at the base
of a gang
wiped out in the Shatoi district lately.
"A big amount of foods provided by international humanitarian organizations has
been found there. For some obscure reason the supplies addressed to Chechnya have
ended up in the militants' hands, Kadyrov said.
He recalled he had repeatedly met with the leaders of international humanitarian
organizations to ask them to distribute aid through republican and district authorities.
In some cases he failed to meet with understanding.
"Regretfully, the aid sent through bypass channels goes to those we are struggling
against. I am asking the heads of humanitarian organizations to stop to think
about this again and to correct the distribution of aid," Kadyrov said.
