Meeting of protest in Grozny
On 19 may 2003, an action of protest was held in front of the pro-Moscow Chechen
Administration office building in Grozny. Above 80 thousand people took part
in the meeting. Most of them were the Chechen women whose sons and husbands
are missing. They were captured by the Russian servicemen in the course of "zachistka"
operations carried out in the villages and towns of Chechnya. The participants
in the meeting demanded to return their captured relatives and stop the tyranny
and violence of the Russian military.
