Mironov Says That To Raise the Issue Of the “International Tribunal For
Chechnya” Is Illegal
The Speaker of the Russian senate Sergei Mironov has described as
illegal suggestion for the setting up of an international tribunal on Chechnya
The proposal to say the least is outrageous, Mr Mironov said at
a meeting on May 21 with the secretary general of the council of Europe
Walter Scwimmer in Strasburg.
All necessary legal structures have been created in Chechnya, courts and prosecutor
offices are up and running , criminals are facing the rigours of the law
,Mr. Mironov said.He emphasized that the recent referendum on .Chechen Constitution
had given an added impulse to the process and hence any call for the setting
up of any Tribunal cannot but cause a bewilderment. ,Mr.Mironov said
in conclusion.
