GROZNY, May 17. /From a RIA Novosti correspondent/. - The number of casualties
of the terrorist act in the Znamenskoye village in Chechnya has amounted to 60
people, RIA Novosti learned from a representative of the staff of the Chechen
administration's head.
An 11-year-old boy died on May 16 at a hospital in Mozdok. Medical assistance
in the Nadterechny district of Chechnya has been provided to 230 people wounded
in the incident, the spokesman pointed out. 10 of them are in a grave condition.
This information was reported early on Saturday by head of the district's administration
Sultan Akhmedkhanov, the agency's interlocutor said.
The republic's leadership ordered to grant subsidies to all injured citizens.
Relatives of those killed by terrorists will receive 30,000 roubles, injured people
will get 10,000 roubles each ($1 equals approximately 30 roubles).
"The priority task is now to provide accommodation for people who were left without
one. Most of them are now staying with their relatives," the administration's
official explained.
An explosion near administrative buildings in the Znamenskoye village occurred
on May 12th. A truck loaded with explosives and driven by a suicide terrorist
exploded in a street near dwelling houses on the approach to the building of thedistrict
administration and the federal security department. Criminal proceedings on the
charges of
terrorism have been launched.
