MOSCOW, May 13 (Itar-Tass) -- There are 27 women and 8 children among the 54 victims
of the Monday terrorist act in Znamenskoye, Chechnya's Nadterechny district, Federation
Council member from Chechnya Akhmar Zavgayev has told Itar-Tass by telephone.
"Two of the dead have not been identified, and two are still missing," he said.
The explosion in Znamenskoye injured 197. Eighty-six of them were brought to hospital,
including 57 in critical condition, Zavgayev noted.
The KamAZ truck stuffed with one ton of explosives damaged or ruined apartment
houses and the buildings of the Nadterechny district newspaper, the prosecutor's
office, the district police department, the district department of the Federal
Security Service, a polyclinic and a secondary school. Power lines, a gas line,
sewage, and 27 vehicles were damaged.
"The material damage is being estimated, but it can be already said that it is
huge," Zavgayev emphasized.
