Massive Captures of Mujahiddeen Families in Chechnya

Representative of the Military Committee of the Chechen Armed Forces informed Kavkaz-Center on the massive captures of the families of Chechen Mujahiddeen, who had died in combats against Russian occupiers. According to the Chechen side, on January 1, 2005, FSB units and Kadyrov‘s gang organizations seized 12 families together with old men and little children in the settlement Avtoury, 4 families in Urus-Martan and 6 families in Jokhar.

It is not known where the hostages are kept. It is also unclear, what occupiers and Kadyrov‘s gangs are going to do with children, women and old men.

In the meantime, murders and abductions are going on in other areas of Chechnya. According to the information of Chechen human rights protectors, on December 9, 2004 in Zavodskoi district of Jokhar, on the territory of the factory named after Lenin, anonymous armed persons in military uniform drove to one of condensate pits by two motorcars VAS-21099 and VAS-2121 and took two unknown man out of the cars.

Then, they shot these men point-blanc down, threw their bodies into the pit and drove away. In an hour and a half, the same unidentified criminals returned to the pit, where they had cast the bodies of the murdered men, and threw the pit down with grenades. After the grenades explosion the pit was partly covered with soil, and after that the armed persons left.

According to one eyewitness of this extrajudicial execution, who gave the following information, he himself together with the other eyewitnesses on December 27, 2004 had reported this fact to the local puppet militia in Zavodskoi district. However, on that day the pit was not uncovered and the bodies of the two murdered men were not lifted from it. Earlier, according to the eyewitness of this crime, the bodies of murdered people had been repeatedly taken out of pits.

On December 25, 2004 at 13.00 in Staropromyslovski district of Jokhar, on Prishvina Street, the armed persons, who drove up by 10 or 15 motorcars VAS-21010 in grey colour without numberplates,  burst into the house No 21 and kidnapped the head of the family Bashir (aged 27-30) and his guest the inhabitant of the town Argun Mussa Moutoushev (aged 24-25).

The kidnapped men's relatives say that the armed persons, who were speaking Chechen language, clobbered Bashir and Mussa with the machine guns butts until they lost their consciousness, and then took them away in the unknown direction, having pushed them into the car's luggage compartments. The kidnappers introduced themselves as the officers of Kadyrovs security service. Till now, nothing is known about the kidnapped persons‘ further fate.

On December 28, 2994, at 8 a.m. in the settlement Sadovoe (sovkhoz 60 anniversary of October) in Groznensko-selski region, armed persons in military uniform, arrived by several motorcars Niva and VAZ-21099 in grey without numberplates, kidnapped two persons from their own house. The kidnapped persons are brothers: Zoubairaev Zelimkhan Khalidovich, born in 1957 and Zoubairaev Rizvan Khalidovich, born in 1968, who had resided at the address Koustanaiskaya Street, 3.

Furthermore, the relatives also let to know, that the unwelcome guests had stolen from the house the golden ware, belonging to the two Zubairaevs sisters, to the tune of more than 100 thousand roubles together with all the tele-video equipment.

Grenade blast at Grozny market injures six people


GROZNY, January 3 (Itar-Tass) - Six people were injured when a grenade exploded at a market in the Chechen capital, police told Itar-Tass on Monday.

The incident occurred at the Severny market in Grozny's Lenin district on Sunday evening. The casualties included two police, one Russian serviceman and three local residents.

They were all hospitalized with fragmentation wounds.

Authorities launched an investigation to find out if it was a terrorist attack or an accidental explosion.

On Saturday, January 1, six police and servicemen were injured in Chechnya when their units came under small arms fire in the capital and the Kurchaloi district.

There have been no fatalities among police or Russian servicemen in Chechnya since the beginning of this year, the headquarters for the anti-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told Itar-Tass.
