taken hostages)
Z.Jabrailov, murdered in Ingushetia, was employee of Austrian humanitarian
organization "Hilswerk"
Zaurbek Jabrailov, a refugee from Chechnya, was murdered on 31 January 2003, in
the village Orjonikidzevskaya of Sunzha district, Ingushetia (Press Release #
262 of February 2, 2003). According to the information of the Internal Ministry
of Ingushetia, the murdered man was an employee of the Grozny military commandant's
office, an intelligence officer, and was armed (his AKSU Makarov pistop
was taken by the murderers). Jabrailov's body, according to the version of the
employees of Ingush militia, was found at 15:00 on 31 January 2002,in Rosa Luxemburg
street in the village Orjonikidzvvskaya. The case is under investigation. Employees
of the Federal Special Services of Ingushetia also take part in the search of
the criminals. However, according to the relatives of Jabrailov, he worked for
the Austrian humanitarian organization "Hilswerk", and had nothing in common
with the law-enforcement bodies and commandant's office of Chechnya. Moreover,
Jabrailov's relatives say, Zaurbek was detained by the Russian special services
last year, and later was released, after paying the ransom. Jabrailov rented a
room in Orjonikidzevskaya and lived there with his wife and two daughters. His
family members say, at about 18:00 Zaurbek Jabrailov came home from his work.
He was followed by two armed men who, having dragged him into the next room,
shot him there. After that the murderers took his Makarov pistol and disappeared.
