Civilians captured in Goi-Chu

According to the evidences of local inhabitants, on the night of 24 January 2003, in the village Goi-Chu of Urus-martan District, Russian servicemn illegally captured two residents of the village in their homes. The illegally captured are: Isa Jabrailov (aged 34) and Mohadi Makaev (aged 30). In the words of their relatives, neither Makaev nor Jabrailov had anything common with the military actions carried out in the republic. Nothing is known about the captured people. The residents of the village Goi-Chu say that Russian servicemen have blocked the village for several days. There are more than 100 families in the village. First the village was block along the perimeter, later, having arranged the check- points, Russian soldiers started to entrench themselves, using bricks, boards and other building materials that had been "expropriated" from the village residents.

According to the eye-witnesses, a group of Russian servicemen brutally beat an old man, resident of the village Goi-Chu Shakhid Bakayev. The old man resisted the Russian soldiers who were trying to load the building materials from his yard on the car. With the words "Get out of here, you old jade!", the Russian soldiers assaulted the old man and brutally beat him. Later the Russians loaded the building material on the car and left the village.
