PRIMA: Russian troops abduct
two villagers of Serzhen-Yurt
CHECHNYA. Russian servicemen on February 28 detained and took away to an unknown
destination two male residents of the village of Serzhen-Yurt, Shali region, Chechnya.
Their names are Musa Maksutov, 23, and Magomed Duduyev, 32.The Chechens were arrested
while harvesting wood on the territory of a forestry farm located on the village
outskirts.
According to the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society, their papers were valid and
in order, and they have recently been given new Russian passports. The Society
points to the fact that the procedure of obtaining documents in Chechnya is not
a simple matter as every Chechen undergoes a thorough scrutiny by Russian security
services. Relatives of the disappeared are now trying to locate Maksutov and Duduyev.
They are being helped by Imran Ezheyev of the Society and
head of the Serzhen-Yurt village administration Shakhid Chamayev. Their inquiries
to the regional authorities, including local government, police department, prosecutor'
and commandant's offices, have been all unsuccessful so far.
