Grozny
Because of "zachistka" all movement towards the village Starye Atagi was blockaded
On February 21, 2003 in Oktyabrsky district of Grozny all transport and pedestrian
movement was stopped in the directions towards the settlements Starye Atagi and
sovkhoz Prigorodny because of zachistka. Soldiers could not say how much time
it would take but recommended to pass up that district.

Fire in Grozny
On February 21, 2003 in Oktyabrsky district of Grozny in 39 Burovaya St.the house
of Razet Shakhgirieva (born in 1932) caught fire and was completely destroyed.
The ignition was caused by gas pressure loss in the system that has become a usual
thing in the city because of the reconstruction work carried on in the capital
of the republic.

About the course of reconstruction work in the capital of the ChechenRepublic
On February 21, 2003 in the ring road near Minutka Square transport movement along
Lenin St. towards republican hospital was blockaded by Russian soldiers because
of the concrete plates dismantling. At present several cranes and other machinery
are engaged in the process. In the Leninsky district of Grozny in the crossroad
of Ordzhonikidze St.and Krasnykh Frontovikov St. workers are demolish the building
of former Pioneer House and driving the rubbish away.

Residents of the village Novye Atagi feel uneasy before the coming flood
Because of the water rise in the river Argun the situation in the village Novye
Atagi is near to catastrophic. Local residents well remember the flood of the
previous year that had produced a disastrous effect in the settlement. The present
real threat of new water rage made them raise the alarm. In case all necessary
measures are not taken, the long-awaited spring will hardly bring joy to people.

Shatoevsky district
Humanitarian aid is transported to the village Dachu-Borzoi
Chechen businessman Khusein Dzhabrailov and the Society of Russian-Chechen Friendship
continue their joint humanitarian action. On February 25, 2003 a lorry loaded
with 700 sacks of flour 60 kilos each was transported to the highland village
Dachu-Borzoi of Shatoevsky district. The head of SRCF regional department Imran
Ezhiev also went there. On request of Vakha Gadaev, the head of village administration,
350 sacks will be delivered to the settlement Starye Atagi of Grozny Village district,
in case it is not blockaded. On February 25 soldiers agreed to let our correspondents
transport the load to this village.
