On Tuesday, the working trip to London of the members of public commission for
the investigation of the explosions of apartment houses in Moscow, Volgodonsk,
Buynaksk, and also training in Ryazan was completed. The purpose of trip
was to investigate of circumstances of the terrorist acts of 1999. The chairman
of
commission Sergei Kovalev, and also its members, Leo Levinson and Valentin
Gefter conducted a series of conversations with Alexander Litvinenko, Boris
Berezovskiy, Akhmed Zakayev and other potential witnesses on the issue of
explosion of the apartment houses.
According to Sergei Kovalev, the conversations will be thoroughly analyzed
on the return to Moscow, after which the commission plans to prepare detailed
report about their accomplished work.
Kovalev in conversation with the correspondent of Grani refused to bring intermediate
steps, after referring to the need for conferring with Moscow associates
and producing of the united and final point of view to the results of London
talks. Nevertheless the Human Right activist noted that the obtained information
can help in a new way to glance at the events of 1999 and to contribute to investigation.
