Abduction in the Chechen village of Goiskoye
At 3 am on March 6 unknown armed people kidnapped Edik Mamakayev, 40, from the
village of Goiskoye (a settlement of the Michurin state farm) in Urus-Martan
region, Chechnya. The abductors that were wearing masks and camouflage burst
into the Mamakayevs' house and without explanations shoveled the master of the
house, right in his nightwear, into a UAZ vehicle and took him to an unknown
destination.
The Russian-Chechen Friendship Society reported on March 11, that in the morning Mamakayev's family turned for help to the head of the village administration and the police chief in the village. However, Mamakayev's whereabouts are still unknown.
Three months ago the Russian
military detained and took away Mamakayev's younger brother, Iliyas, 20 years
of age. In mid- February his dead body
was found near the village of Gikalo, in the woodland along the Rostov-Baku
motorway.
Edik Mamakayev is the single father of three small children. According to his fellow villagers, the Mamakayev brothers had been occupied with their household, ranched cattle, and had not participated in combat or the so called illegal armed formations.
