get inside refugee camp According to Chechen Committee for National Salvation, foreign journalists managed to visit Chechen refugee camp of Satsita on 8 October. After this they were detained by Ingush police. Satsita is situated in the outskirts of Ordzhonikidzevskaya village in Sougzhenskiy District of Ingushetia. Journalists tried to visit the camp the previous day but were stopped by the police at the entrance. Yesterday they managed to get inside the camp, talk to the refugees and film. However, police vehicle appeared almost immediately and took the journalists to the temporary police station in Satsita. The chief told foreign journalists at the station that they had no right to film inside the camp's territory. The journalists produced documents and accreditation issued by Yastrzhembskiy's office. The policeman demanded to see a pass signed by Ivan Pomeschenko, acting head of migration service of Ingushetia. The police explained that visits to refugee camps without this official's permission are strictly forbidden. The journalists were offered to leave the camp within two minutes. When one of the journalists said that in that case he would photograph the camp from outside, he was told that it was absolutely out of the question. According to the refugee camp's residents, from early morning of 9 October 2003 the check point at the entrance to the Chechen refugee camps has been reinforced with the Russian military who carry out thorough searches of all the transport heading towards the camps.
