Lord Judd's successor to be named on March 5

The political commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council  of Europe will fix a new rapporteur on the Chechen republic at its  March 5 session. It will be gathered in Paris, Russian chief delegate  at PACE Leonid Slutsky, deputy chairman of the State Duma  international committee, has told reporters.

On Thursday Lord Judd tendered his resignation as the rapporteur on  Chechnya and the PACE member responsible for the situation in Chechnya. He said the motive was his explanation as to why there were  no conditions for a referendum in Chechnya lacked the need to delay  it. Lord Judd said he was so much concerned with Chechnya problems at  the Wednesday session of the political commission that he did not  notice the wording of a passage he did not like.
