20 civilians detained as a result of "zachistka" operation.

Volunteer of Russian-Chechen Friendship Society

On 22 January 2003, regional office of Russian-Chechen Friendship Society in Ingushetia has been informed that at 16:00 p.m. the servicemen of federal forces detained the activist of peacekeeping movement, volunteer of Russian- Chechen Friendship Society Musa Salmanovich Khizriev, born in 1964, resident of the village Serjen-Yurt of Shali district. M.Khizriev was detained in the passenger bus Grozny-Vedeno (Shali) on his way to the village Serjen-Yurt. The detainee has never taken part in any actions of armed formations. The relatives of M.Khizriev applied to several force structures of the district to investigate the situation and release detainee. Representatives of the Russian-Chechen Friendship Society also lake measures to find out his whereabouts and discharge him.

Urus-Martan District

20 civilians have been detained in the course of "zachistka" operation

On 22 January 2003, sub-unit of federal forces conducted so-called "zachistka" in the village Tanghi-Chu of Iris- Martan district, as a result of which 20 young people have been arrested and taken away. The servicemen did not produced any documents.
