gathering "A Day for Actions Against War in Chechnya".
"Dear Colleagues and Friends!
For termination of the war in Chechnya which has been presented quite in a different
light after the tragic events in Moscow theater center on Dubrovka and activation
of the campaign forcing the Chechens to leave Ingushetia, it is important to broaden
the scales of civic actions.
If you are in Moscow, the organization Committee of antiwar actions invites your
organization to take part in antiwar demonstration held on 1 February in Moscow

The organization Committee appeals to the regional (non-Moscow) organizations
to support a series of antiwar demonstrations on 1-2 February in regions, so as
to make it possible to hold "A Day for Actions Against War in Chechnya".
On 22 November 2002, at the initiative of a number of public organizations was
established an organization committee of antiwar actions. It was done on the grounds
of the decision made at the International Conference on "For termination of war
and establishment of peace in the Chechen Republic", held on 9-10 November
2002 in Moscow. The Organization Committee considers it necessary to arrange regular
antiwar actions in Moscow and regions of Russia, and create a large-scale antiwar
movement on the grounds of such actions all over the country.
On the decision of the Organization Committee a demonstration and meeting on Pushkin
Square in Moscow was held on 12 December 2002. The demonstrators put in claims
to put an end to the bloody and anti-constitutional war in Chechnya and begin
peace negotiations.
Next antiwar action is scheduled for 1 February 2003. It is planned to march from
Triumph Square (at 15:30) to Pushkin Square.
The organizers of the demonstration are: All-National Committee of Russia "For
termination of war and establishment of peace in the Chechen Republic",
Antiwar actions Committee, Movement "For Human Rights", Andrey Sakharov Public
Center, "Union of the Right Forces", "Liberal Russia", Transnational Radicla
Party, Movement "Democratic Russia" and others. Democratic Party "Yabloko" and
Human Rights Center "Memorial" are also invited to join the group of organizers.
