MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - The village of Novogroznenskoye in Chechnya came under
fire on Tuesday afternoon.
"The shooting was unauthorized and aimed at residential districts. The weapons
were fired from the nearest mountain chain, were a federal military unit is deployed,"
spokesman for the Chechen office affiliated to the Russian president Edi Isayev
told Interfax on Wednesday.
Two local residents, Alsolt Akhmedov and Umar Usmanov, were killed in the attack,
Isayev said.
"Furthermore, three houses and several cars parked in the street were destroyed
by the gunfire," he said.
Federal defense agencies have not confirmed this report.
