Mutilated bodies of 10 civilians found in Chechnya

The remains of 10 people, civilian citizens of Chechnya, have been found in the republic's Groznensky District. All the bodies bore marks of a violent death, Chief Prosecutor of the Chechen Republic Vladimir Kravchenko told the press on Tuesday.

The bodies were found on Monday in a ravine near a motorway. A group of investigators is currently working at the scene. The bodies are badly disfigured, many of them by explosions, and this makes identification very difficult. Only two of the dead people have been identified by relatives so far. A criminal case under the article 'mass murder' of  the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been started.
