The Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya has instituted criminal proceedings
into the abduction of Nadezhda Pogosova, deputy prosecutor of the Shali
district, and Alexei Klimov, deputy prosecutor of the Shatoi district, Prosecutor
of Chechnya Vladimir Kravchenko said on Thursday. Both officials were
presumably abducted in northwest Chechnya on December 27.
